Zee Avi hit the stage at the El Rey Theatre in Hollywood, CA on October 15, on tour promoting her sophomore album “Ghostbird.”  In a very Penny Lane fashion, twirling her hands and with closed eyes, she said, “This song goes out to all the nonconformists…and the lovers…the nonconformist lovers” as she introduced her hit “Honey Bee.” Zee’s philosophical lyrics and ideas make her interesting and beyond cool. People are enchanted with Zee’s carefree style, and relatable lyrics. A stand out of the night was her performance of “Concrete Wall,” a powerfully moving piece expressing feelings of subordinate relationships and breaking free of that, with a strong beating of the drum and haunting words, Zee captivated the room. She filled the theatre with joy and dance with crowd favorites like “Bitter Heart” and “Kantoi.” You can’t listen to Zee without a big smile streaming across your face!
